Green Roof

A green roof can turn an otherwise unused roof surface into a living part of the building. Šircelj Izolacije specializes in the installation of green roofs, including extensive Xeroflor systems, combining roofing expertise with the technical requirements needed for reliable roof protection. The company has more than 30 years of experience with flat roofs and related insulation work.

Unlike a conventional roof covering, a green roof consists of several carefully coordinated layers. Depending on the construction, these can include the supporting structure, thermal and waterproof insulation, drainage, filtration, root protection, and the vegetation layer. Each component has a specific role, making accurate planning and installation particularly important.

Šircelj Izolacije offers extensive green roof solutions that can be installed on both flat and sloped roofs. The Xeroflor system uses a pre-grown vegetation mat, allowing the roof to become green immediately after installation. Its relatively low weight, stated at approximately 50–60 kg per square meter, also makes this type of system suitable for certain lightweight structures.

Beyond its visual appeal, vegetation can provide an additional protective layer over the roofing system. A green roof can help shield the roof surface from UV radiation, hail, direct mechanical impacts, and temperature fluctuations. Vegetated surfaces can also retain part of the rainwater during heavier precipitation, slowing its release into drainage systems.

For Šircelj Izolacije, a successful green roof starts with the fundamentals: suitable insulation, reliable waterproofing, appropriate drainage, and precise execution. This approach allows the finished roof to combine technical performance with a natural appearance.
